Lancaster County Prison Visitation Rules
Visits at Lancaster County Prison are permitted as a privilege. The prison allows contact visits, which means you may briefly embrace and kiss a visitor on arrival and departure. You may also hold a child during the visit. This applies to most inmates unless they have been restricted to non-contact visits due to security or safety concerns.
Each inmate receives one one-hour visit per week. No more than two people, including children, may visit at one time. Children under age 18 must come with a parent or legal guardian. Proof of relationship and age is required for minors. The child must be the biological child of the inmate, and a legally recognized birth certificate must be presented as proof. Inmates with sex offender charges or convictions are not permitted visits with juveniles unless a court order has been approved in advance by the warden.
Visitors must arrive at the prison at least one hour before the scheduled visit time. Sign-up ends 30 minutes before the visit begins. Inmates are moved between housing areas regularly, so it is the inmate's job to let visitors know of any changes that might affect scheduling.
Each inmate may keep up to eight names on their visitor list. The list can only be updated once every 30 days. All visitors must bring a valid, government-issued photo ID. Visitors should avoid wearing clothing that is overly revealing or that could be considered inappropriate inside a correctional setting.
The visitation information page on the Lancaster County website has the full schedule, dress code guidelines, and a list of what you need to bring when you visit someone at the prison.
